Runway Safety – Incursions

A Runway Incursion is defined as “Any occurrence at an aerodrome involving the incorrect presence of an aircraft, vehicle or person on the protected area of a surface designated for the landing and take off of aircraft”. (ICAO Doc 4444 – PANSATM). The ‘incorrect presence’ may results from the failure of a pilot or vehicle driver to comply with a valid ATC clearance or their compliance with an inappropriate ATC clearance.
